[Class 43] A connector for a wrist-watch strap consists of a housing, to one end of which is pivoted a folding member, and in which is a slidable extension member carrying a tooth with which a latch member engages, means being mounted at the pivot point of the folding member, automatically movable, when the folding member is unfolded, to move the latch member laterally out of engagement with the tooth. When the folding members 19, 23 are closed down on the channel shaped housing 11, the bracelet may be tightened by pushing into the housing a sliding member 26, teeth 37 thereon snapping past and being engaged by a lip 36 on a latch member 35. When the folding members are opened, a helical cam surface 48 on the hinge of the folding member 19 rocks a member 42, to withdraw the lip 36 from the teeth, and so releases the sliding member 26. A finger piece 43 allows of manual operation of the latch member when the folding member is closed. The latch member is formed with a resilient arm 38 extending from a shank 39, fastened by a clamp 41, which also serves as a stop to limit the movement of the extension member. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the resilient arm is loosely held by a retainer piece, and the rocking member is omitted, the latch itself being provided with a fulcrum point, and being extended beyond this point to engage the helical cam face. In a further modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the resilient arm is secured to a clamp about which the latch can be angularly deflected, both rocking member and fulcrum point being omitted.
