Abstract
749,420. Sliding-clasp fasteners. NEWEY BROS., Ltd. Jan. 10, 1955 [Aug. 14, 1954], No. 23706/54. Class 44. In a slider for a sliding-clasp fastener, the puller is provided with an attachment part which is adapted to be inserted through an opening in the upper member of the slider body and is retained in rocking or pivoting engagement with a part of the slider by the fastener elements when the slider is fitted over the elements. As shown in Fig. 1, a puller 14 is provided with a pair of aligned lugs to which are engaged in recesses 18 on the underside of the upper member of the slider before the latter is applied to the fastener elements, an elongated opening 16 being provided in the upper member of the slider to allow the puller to be inserted vertically therein at an angle of about 45 degrees to the position shown. The puller is provided with a locking lug 21 and the upper member of the slider is recessed to allow the puller to lie flat when not in use In another arrangement, Fig. 6, a puller 25 is inserted into a slot 29 in the upper member of the slider body and a part 30 is engaged behind a nose 27, which extends into the slot, before the slider is applied to the fastener elements. The puller is cranked to allow it to lie flat when not in use. In a modification of the Fig. 1 arrangement, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) in which the puller does not lie flat against the slider body, recesses for the puller lugs project above the surface of the slider body.
