Abstract

464,048. Vacuum cleaners. OWENS, L. G. Oct. 11, 1935, No. 28083. [Class 8 (i)] A vacuum cleaner comprises a floor-tool to which is attached a pipe, serving as a handle, and connected by a hose to a casing mounted on wheels or runners and containing the fan, motor and dust bag. The floor-tool 4 is mounted on end wheels 6 and contains two aligned rotary brushes 9, the spindles 10 of which carry pinions 14 gearing with spur-wheels 15 in the interior of the wheels 6. The spindles 10 are supported in a common central bearing 11 and in slots in brackets 16, pivoted at 17 to the casing, and connected by a bar 12 which carries the bearing 11. The brackets are also formed with slots engaging the spindles 7 of the wheels 6, so that the spindles 7, 10 can be adjusted simultaneously.
