Abstract

462,619. Metallic vapour rectifiers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES. Nov. 18, 1935, No. 31891. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] Cooling-air is delivered tangentially and in an upward direction through a conduit 7 to a closed casing 6 of a rectifier 1, particularly a glass mercury vapour rectifier, so that it follows a helical path around the rectifier, and is discharged tangentially at 9. Supplementary air currents may be admitted tangentially through other conduits 10, and in order to maintain the helical path of the cooling- air guide members may be provided on the rectifier or on the casing. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the following : The helical path of the air may be produced by curved vanes 4, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), fixed in the rectifier casing above a fan 3, and a baffle 5 may be provided at the top of the casing to deflect the air on to the upper part of the rectifier. A fan with blades shaped to produce a helical air flow may be used, or a number of fans may be mounted in inclined positions which may be adjusted in accordance with the conditions of the rectifier to produce a variable air flow. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
