458,060. Motor-car bonnet fastenings. FIAT SOC. ANON., 250, Via Nizza, Turin, Italy. Feb. 17, 1936, No. 4813. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1935. [Class 44] [See also Group XXXI] Fasteners for securing openable parts of motor-vehicle bonnets are located in the upper zone of the bonnet, being operated from within the vehicle, preferably by means on the dashboard. As applied to the bonnet structure described in Specification 448,394, [Group XXXII], the hinged top flaps 5 and front cowl 2 pivoted about a transverse axis 4 are adapted to be secured by hooks 8 keyed on a shaft 9 mounted in brackets 10 carried by the bonnet wall, the shaft 9 being rockable by a pin-and-slot connection 14, 15 to a shaft 11 terminating in a handle 12 on the dashboard 6. The hooks engage stamped sheet metal eyes attached to the inner sides of the openable parts. A cam 18 on the shaft 9 partially raises the cover 5 as the hooks are withdrawn. To prevent rattling &c., the shafts 9, 11 are mounted in rubber bushes 16 and an anchored spring engages the pin of the pin-and-slot connection.
