413,910. Vehicle bodies. BRIGGS MANUFACTURING CO., 11631, Mack Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Lundberg, E. E. ; 1304, Balfour Road, Grosse Point, Michigan, U.S.A.) Oct. 17, 1933, No. 28716. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1932. [Class 108 (i).] A front end unit for motor-cars is pressed from a single sheet of metal and comprises a windshield header, a belt bar and upright marginal portions for the windshield the said portions being closed at the front, rear, and outer sides, the rear sides forming jamb portions extending inwardly the full depth of the frame. The front end stamping comprises the windshield header A, door posts B, and belt panel C. The cowl section E is welded thereto as shown at 53, Fig. 3. Fig. 6 shows the formation of the door posts in the region of the windshield, the door jamb 25 with its rebates 26 extending the full width of the post and the inner side 29 being adapted as a seating for the windshield. A reinforcing panel 33, a tacking block 34 and a cover plate 35 are provided. G represents the door. The belt panel C, Fig. 3, is shaped as shown and the dash 55 is secured in position by an angular bracing 54. Fig. 7 shows a front end unit comprising a single stamping which includes the cowl section E, the shroud pan 50 being shown together with recesses 46 to take the rear edge of the bonnet.
