Abstract

455,200. Cathode-ray tubes. FERNSEH AKT.-GES., Goerzallee, Zehlendorf, Berlin. May 22, 1936, No. 14528. Convention date, June 19, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] Relates to deflecting means of the kind comprising electrostatic plates and electromagnetic coils for deflecting the ray in two co-ordinate directions, and consists in attaching the plates 3, Fig. 2, to the formers 2 on which the coils 1 are wound and supporting them on a single supporting stirrup 4 to form a unitary structure which is mountable in the tube so as to secure correct positioning in a single operation. The stirrup, which carries the tube 18, Fig. 1, forming part of the electrostatic concentrating means for the electron ray and an apertured diaphragm 5, is centred in the tube by a conical projection 8. The base plate to which the projection 8 is fastened is preferably affixed to the wall 15 of the tube at three points by hooks, screws, &c. and is also provided with four nickel-beryllium springs 14 which make contact with a high resistance conductive layer on the wall of the tube. A focusing coil may be placed around the tube in the annular space 17. Counter electrodes 6, 7 may be attached to the formers 2, and the plates 3 are splayed so as to be approximately parallel to the ray in its deflected position.
