453,762. Transformers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. June 19, 1936, No. 17133. Convention date, June 25, 1935. [Class 38 (ii)] In a shell-type transformer regulated by magnetic shunts 3, 4 located between the limb carrying the windings I, II and the yokes 2, 3 and movable in a direction at right - angles to the axis of the core, the shunts are secured in adjusted position by means operating to draw them towards each other into contact with the winding limb or to push them apart into contact with the yokes. Fig. 2 shows the shunts carried by laterally extending members 7, 9 arranged to be drawn towards each other by clamping nuts 16, 17. Fig. 4 shows a 3 - phase/4- phase transformer in which the windings are arranged on two shelltype cores arranged side by side with common supports 21, 22 for their shunts, a single clamping device comprising a metal loop 23 extending round both supports and having a hand wheel adjusted screw 26 extending through one end for drawing the supports towards each other, being effective for clamping both sets of shunts in adjusted position. The shunt carrying members may be of insulating material or of brass with inserts of insulation to avoid forming a short-circuited turn around the core.
