Abstract

452,937. Electric soldering- irons. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and GRAFTON, W. H., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Landor Street, Birmingham. April 24, 1935, No. 12350. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric soldering-iron is provided with a flat heating element 2 arranged within a metal tube 1 which is flattened on the element. The tube is continued unflattened to form a shaft on which a handle 3 is fixed and the connecting leads 4 are brought out at the end of this. The element 2 comprises nichrome wire wound on a mica strip and surrounded by further strips. A clamp 6 secures the soldering bit 5 to the flattened part of the tube.
