Abstract

450,571. Latches. PARKES, S. R., Pretoria Works, New Road, Willenhall, Staffordshire. April 2, 1935, No. 10159. [Class 44] A mortice latch 6 operable by a follower 3 on a spindle provided with knobs on each side of the door is deadlocked by a lever 9 which is engaged by a spider 13 on the end of an independently mounted cylinder lock 12, a projection 14 on the end of the cylinder actuating the spider when the cylinder is turned, and the spider being also movable from the inside of the door by pins 15, 15<a> on a flange 17 on an independent knob spindle coaxial with the pivot of the spider. The lever 9 is pivoted on brackets 10 on the latch case and engages a slot 8 in the extension 7 of the latch, a spring 11 engaging the end of the lever to hold it in either its locked or released position.
