[Class 80 (ii)] In mechanism according to Specification 445,952, wherein an abutment member t is movable to one or other of two positions, by energiza. tion, automatically or at will, of one or other of a pair of electromagnets c, c<1>, so as to engage and move one or other of a pair of interconnected levers j, n which are mounted on a driving disc h and which control a clutch between the disc h and a driven shaft d, the clutch comprises a friction shoe 13 which is carried by one arm of a bellcrank lever 12 mounted on the disc and which is urged by a spring 15, acting on the lever 12, into engagement with a drum 10 secured to the shaft d. A sleeve 14, loose on the shaft d and serving to interconnect the levers j, n through links 18, 19, has an arm 16 carrying a roller 17 engaging the other arm 12<1> of the lever 12. With the roller 17 in engagement with an arcuate portion 12<3> of the arm 12<1>, the shoe is held out of engagement with the drum, while when the sleeve 14 is moved, by the actuation of the levers j, n, so as to move the roller 17 off the portion 12<3> and on to a cut-away portion 12<2>, the lever 12 is freed so that the shoe engages the drum under the action of the spring 15.
