Abstract

447,676. Hinges for tins. BARLOW, R., 28, Kingsway, London, and COWAN, A. F., 48, Barnfield Avenue, Shirley, Surrey. Sept. 22, 1934, No. 27301. [Class 65 (ii)] [See also Group XVII] A box &c. which is intended to be vacuumized has a curled or beaded edge 2 with an integral extension 3 which engages loosely the hinge member 5 on the lid. The extension of the curl or bead 2 may be bent upwardly and the lid may be provided with a flange &c. which drops into the bent up extension through a slot, which is sufficiently large to give a vertical displacement to the lid. The lid may have internal projections which engage under the bead on the body portion in the closed position. The box, &c. may be made of material sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite ". Specifications 365,757 and 420,452, [both in Group XVII], are referred to.
