Abstract

447,616. Sliding - clasp fastenings. LARROQUE, J. L., 106, Avenue de Caen, Rouen, France, and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd., Imperial Chemical House, Millbank, London. Nov. 21, 1934, No. 33533. [Class 44] Fastenings of the type in which a series of elements 4 on each of two stringer tapes are brought into engagement by a slider have the ends of the tapes provided with a smooth and coherent end member 7 of non-metallic material, such as rubber, which is moulded on or otherwise affixed so as to form the end stop 8 and also prevent fraying of the severed ends of the tapes. The end stop portion 8 may be hardened or provided with an embedded metal reinforcement. The tape is shown as having an elastic portion 5 woven in ; the end member 7 secures the elastic threads and being of rubber permits lateral stretching. Synthetic resin may be used and both ends of the tapes may be so fitted with end members.
