439,701. Diaphragm valves. SAUNDERS INVENTIONS Ltd., 98, Beresford House, P.O. Box 6508, Main Street, Johannesburg, South Africa, and SAUNDERS, P. K., 5, Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton. Aug. 23, 1934, No. 24293 [Class 135] In a diaphragm valve, the diaphragm 20 is provided with a resilient headed projection 19 which is held in an undercut recess 21 in the actuator mem ber. The projection 19 may be forced into the recess when it is made of rubber or similar material, or the actuator member may be made in two parts 12 hinged together and to the spindle 17 by a pin 16 so that by removing the cover 15 and actuating mechanism and moving the actuator outwardly from the cover the members 12 may be moved apart to insert the head 19 in the recesses thereof. The outside surfaces of the members 12 are shaped so that when withdrawn into the cover 15 they are caused to move together by contact with the cover to grip and compress the head 19.
