438,897. Back and arm rests. MORRIS, W., MORRIS, H., and MORRIS, G., Plumbe Street Garage, Burnley. May 26, 1934, No. 15733. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (v)] An extending back-rest and arm-rest for attachment to the rear seat of a motor vehicle to provide, in conjunction with an extensible seat-portion, an extra seat, is connected to a pair of members A fixed to the framework of the rear seat by a system of links and arms. A pair of arms C are pivoted to the members A and to the inner ends of a pair of links D which carry transverse members E to which the arm rest is secured. To the outer ends of the links D are pivoted arms F which are pivoted at their other ends to a pair of members G which carry the back rest. A further pair of arms H are pivoted to the lower ends of the members G and to the links D at the points d. A second pair of links J is pivoted at h to the arms H and pivoted at the inner ends to a pair of arms L which are pivoted at l to the first pair of links D and at their upper ends to the members A. The fitting folds as shown in Fig. 2, the back rest filling a space between two parts of the fixed back of the rear seat, and the arm-rest being concealed in the space behind the extending back rest. When extended, the back and arm-rests are held rigidly in position.
