Abstract

435,160. Heating water by electricity. BENNETT, B. J., 7, Midway Road, Stoughton Drive North, Leicester. Jan. 8, 1935, No. 585. [Class 39 (iii)] In an electric water heater attachable to a tap and consisting of a block 1 of insulating material containing water conduits 14 furnished with heating elements 15 and 15<a> a manual switch is provided to control the supply of current to the elements, the switch handle 10 being provided with means such as a spring 10<a> to open automatically the switch whenever the hand pressure is released. The electric elements may be made of bare non-corrodible metal. They are spaced from their cores so that the water may flow within the resistance spirals as well as around them. A pilot light 5 is provided in series with the heating elements. An insulating air jacket 12 is provided between the water passages 14 and the block 1. The tubes 14 may be removed from their grooves in the block by detaching a plate 11 from the block.
