[Class 38 (iv)] Heating elements each controlled by at least one thermostat and making a demand for current according to its temperature, are associated by means, operated by one or more of the thermostats, for preventing all the demands being met simultaneously. In the application to a cooker having a storage heating element 3 associated with a water heater 6, when the switch 10 cuts off the grill and other oven heating elements 8, 9, current is supplied from the main lead M<2> to the element 3 through a switch 4 controlled by a thermostat. When the storage block has reached a predetermined temperature, the switch 4 supplies current to the water heater 6 through its switch 7 also controlled by a thermostat. More than two elements may be similarly associated.
