Abstract
The conversion of alkyl inorganic esters having 10--18 carbon atoms into the corresponding sulphonates by means of aqueous solutions of sulphites is effected in a closed vessel at 120--150 DEG C. in the presence of dianilidophosphoric acid or a substituted dianilidophosphoric acid or of a mixture of a phosphate and an aromatic base. In examples, cetyl bromide, cetyl sodium sulphate, dodecylbromide and dodecyl sodium sulphate are treated with sodium sulphite in the presence of a mixture of aniline and sodium phosphate or of dianilidophosphoric acid.
