Abstract
1-Propionyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acid is made by the action of propionyl chloride or anhydride on 1-hydroxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, in the presence of sulphuric acid.ALSO:The basic bismuth salts of a -carbalkyloxycyclohexanylacetic acids, of 1-acyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acids, or of the malonic acid esters of the general formula <FORM:0397249/III/1> where R contains at least seven carbon atoms and has one or more branch chains and R<1> is an alkyl radical, are directly prepared in the form of a solution in oil by effecting a double decomposition between an inorganic basic bismuth salt such as the nitrate and an alkali salt of the acid in the presence of a vegetable oil such as olive oil. The solution in oil is extracted from the aqueous mixture with ether, the ether solution filtered and dried, and the ether then distilled off. The solution in oil may be used medicinally for injection purposes. In examples, the preparation of the basic bismuth salts of the following acids is described: a -carbethoxy-cyclohexanylacetic acid, 1-acetoxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, 1-propionyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, and a -carboxyethyl-b -methylnonoic acid. 1-Propionyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acid is made by the action of propionyl chloride or anhydride on 1-hydroxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, in the presence of sulphuric acid.ALSO:Solutions in oil of the basic bismuth salts of a -carbalkyloxycyclohexanylacetic acids, of 1-acyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acids, or of the malonic acid esters of the general formula <FORM:0397249/VI/1> where R contains at least seven carbon atoms and has one or more branch chains and R1 is an alkyl radical, are prepared by effecting a double decomposition between a basic bismuth salt such as the nitrate and an alkali salt of the acid in the presence of a vegetable oil such as olive oil. The solution in oil may be used medicinally for injection purposes. In examples, the preparation of the basic bismuth salts of the following acids is described: a -carbethoxycyclohexanylacetic acid, 1-acetoxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, 1-propionyloxyhexahydrobenzoic acid, and a -carboxyethyl-b -methyl nonoic acid.
