Abstract
433,015. Boxes. WILKES, O. F., and WILKES, F. W. G., (trading as WILKES & SONS, T.), and JONES, C. W., Drayton Works, Graiseley Row, Wolverhampton. Oct. 30, 1934, No. 31070. [Class 18] A sheet-metal box comprises detachable sides, ends, and bottom which are joined together by right-angled metal strips E, Fig. 3, whose inturned edges e can slide underneath the outturned edges d of the sides, &c. The vertical strips pass through slots in the usual strengthening bead on which the lower edges of the lid flanges rest, and solid or hollow corner strengthening pieces of D-section are inserted in the bead at the corners. Extensions e<3> on the lower end of a vertical strip overlie an extension j<1> on the strip E connecting the bottom to the sides and are bent underneath the box, the corner being finally covered by a threesided corner-piece, with inset portions g<1>, Fig. 15, which lie against the sides and through which screws can pass to nuts soldered or welded to the interior of the box. Further extensions el, Fig. 2, on the upper ends of the vertical strips E lie over the upper edge of the box and are bent down under horizontal flanges c on the sides and ends. A detachable hinged lid is provided.
