Abstract
490,885. Flexible lids for fish &c. containers. FIDDES, J. Nov. 22, 1937, No. 32112. [Class 18] The lid of a container for fish &c. is constituted by boards 16, with cleats 18 secured to their under or upper sides and connected by staples 19 as described in Specification 443,007 and/or by a wire or metal strip running the whole width of the lid. When the lid is closed, the ends of boards 16 rest on the end walls of the container and cleats 18 engage beneath fixed top portions 14. When cleats are not used, projecting metal plates take the place of the projecting ends of the cleats ; in this form apertures may be provided in the walls to receive their projecting metal plates. The projections may also be omitted altogether, the edges of the flexible lid then resting on the upper edges of the walls and being held beneath L-shaped brackets on the walls, or beneath #-shaped wire members across the corners. A wire member 81 secured in each side may be bent over the side edge of the lid to secure it. The container is made from boards connected by flexible metal elements.
