[Class 80 (ii)] [See also Groups XXIX, XXII, XXVII, and XXXIV] For securing metal parts together, one part is formed with an annular groove in one face adapted to be engaged by a wedge ring, and the other part is formed with an undercut recess so that when the two parts are forced together the wedge ring causes the first part to be expanded into the undercut recess. For securing two sleeves on a shaft s, annular grooves are formed in the adjacent faces of the sleeves and a circumferential undercut recess p is formed in the shaft, so that when the sleeves are forced towards one another, the wedge g causes the ends of the sleeves to be expanded into the recess p. Metal parts of non-circular section may be secured together in the manner described.
