[Class 146 (iii)] A piston self-filling fountain pen is provided with a further writing - instrument which is detachably fitted directly to the piston and serves as a piston-rod. In one form, a pencil holder r, another pen, a drawing - pen, or the like is formed with a screwthreaded projection, p Fig. 1, attached to the plunger b. The pencil holder may be of the extensible type, the length, when fully extended, being equal to the stroke of the plunger. The pencil holder can be carried separately, in which case a separate cap for covering the end of the pencil holder may be provided, or can be left attached to the plunger, a nut s being provided to prevent accidental movement of the plunger. In a modification, the pencil holder r is provided with a projection z, Fig. 2, which engages in a slot n formed in an annular member v secured in the pen barrel a and through which the holder r slides, so that the holder can be turned to prevent actuation of the plunger, marks w, w<1> being provided on the parts r, v to indicate the relative positions of the projection z and slot n. A covering-barrel y screwing over the pencil holder and formed with spare-lead receptacles x is provided. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the pencil holder may be permanently connected to or formed integral with the plunger. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
