[Class 100 (ii)] A device for marking spots, such as indications upon a chart, comprises a holder carrying a spotting- pad and detachably or displaceably mounted in a casing provided with a detachable cap containing an inking-pad. Fig. 2 shows a reservoir pen holder 1 having a tapered end 3 carrying a spotting-pad 4. A casing 6 may be passed over the end 3 and secured to the holder 1 by screw threads 7, 8. A cap 11 with a detachable end 12 containing an inking-pad 14 may be screwed over the open end of she casing 6. In a modification a casing is bored at one end to receive a thermometer and at the other end to receive a spotting-pad holder which is axially adjustable from a retracted to a projecting position under the control of a pin on the holder engaging a notched slot in the casing. Screw-on caps, one of which contains the inking-pad, are provided for the ends of the casing. Fig. 8 shows a device having three spotting-pads for use with different coloured inks. A holder having a spotting-pad at each end may be axially adjustable in a casing 36 under control of a pin 37 and notched slot 38 to move either pad into a projected position. Caps 44, 45, each carrying a suitable inking-pad are provided for the ends of the casing 36. An additional casing 47 adapted to slide over the cap 44 has an opening to receive a third axially adjustable spotting-pad holder 48. A cap 50 with an inking-pad 51 is provided.
