430,562. Hydraulic transmission of power. STAATS, F. E., 1612, 1st Avenue, Peroria, Illinois, U.S.A. Nov. 12, 1934, No. 32580. [Class 69 (ii)] In a hydraulic clutch, the vanes 24 are held in the retracted position when a central control valve 14 allows circulation of liquid through passages 21, by latches 32 carried by the valve engaging hooks 28 on the vane stems. When the valve is turned to prevent circulation, the latches are disengaged, and the vanes pressed out by springs into contact with the eccentric surfaces on the casing 3 ; when they are so extended, the liquid pressure moves members 43 and passes through passages 45 to act on the inner ends of the vanes and hold them extended.
