[Classes 80 (i) and 80 (iv)] The spokes of line shaft and machinery pulleys and wheels are enclosed, to prevent accidents, by discs of metal, wood or other suitable material, the discs being fitted to the wheels in situ. Each disc is in two parts having tongues and slots at or near their respective diameters which, when the two parts are placed together round the shaft or boss of the pulley or wheel, interlock to form a smoothly joined, rigid and complete disc. The pairs of half-discs applied to the pulley c are shown at a<1>, a<2> and b<1>, b2 respectively, the edges of the discs being slightly inturned as at f. The halves are locked together as at g and the space enclosed may be ventilated by a narrow annular gap l, by small holes or slots m at the circumference or by one or more holes n in the rim of the pulley. The discs are secured by bolts h and tubular distance pieces i located by circular washers j, or by clips or saddles k attached to the spokes, the ends of the clips or projections therefrom being gripped or otherwise secured between the tubular distance pieces i<1>, i<2>.
