Abstract

427,665. Pipe joints. HERZMARK, N., 44, Rue Vitruve, Paris. Jan. 24, 1934, No. 2481. [Class 99 (i)] In a pipe joint of the kind in which the flared pipe ends b<1> c1 are drawn up on a double conical ferrule a, the coupling members d, e are interengaged or connected otherwise than by the ferrule, and engage the flared pipe ends only at a part below their maximum diameter, the bore of the coupling members being tapered at a smaller angle than the ferrule. The bore of the coupling member may have sharp-edged annular ribs to bite into soft-metal pipes. For hard-metal pipes the flared ends have a smaller angle than the ferrule so that the end of the pipe bites into the ferrule or a soft-metal coating thereon, or a metal washer is compressed between the ferrule and the flared pipe end, or a narrow internal flange is formed on the pipe end.
