425,912. Underclearers for preparing machines. ENGLISH COTTON SEWING CO., Ltd., and HOLME, A., Arkwright House, Parsonage Gardens, Manchester. Sept. 23, 1933, No. 26259. [Class 120 (ii)] Underclearers for the drawing-rollers of machines used prior to the slubber in the preparation of textile material for spinning, are constructed as independent units for each head and comprise an endless cloth A, which is stretched over rollers a, a<1>, a<2> carried in brackets B pivoted to a frame C, and is traversed by pawl and ratchet mechanism d, D, a stripping- comb E being oscillated to remove fly. The brackets B are pivoted about the axis of the roller a and are supported by a spiral spring G or by a flat spring engaging one side ; the roller a<1> is carried by an auxiliary bracket B adjustable in relation to the brackets B by means of a bolt b<2> to tension the cloth; the comb E is oscillated by a rod e from the ratchet mechanism D ; and the fly is collected by a pivoted tray F adapted to tip and discharge the fly after a determined quantity has accumulated. In the case of a comber draw-box, a shoot may be used in place of the tray F. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that a spring-supported flannel covered roller may be used in place of the tray.
