425,777. Driving - mechanism for tandem bicycles. FENNER, E. F., 31, Coverton Road, Tooting, London. Nov. 9, 1933, No. 31217. [Class 136 (ii)] Chain driving-mechanism for tandem bicycles comprises driving sprocket-wheels on the front and rear pedal-crank axles and a driven sprocket-wheel on the rear road wheel all mounted in alignment. A single chain 1 passes round the front and rear sprocket-wheels and is held in engagement with the uppermost teeth only of the middle sprocket-wheel 2 by means of a flat strip or guide-plate 4. This plate is adjustably mounted by eccentric bolts 5 on two arms 6 fixed to or integral with the crankaxle bracket 7. A jockey wheel 8 is adjustably mounted in a slot 9 on an arm 10 to tension the lower stretch 1<x> of the chain.
