Abstract
425,157. Envelopes &c. KROCH, F., 22, Bismarkstrasse, Leipsic, Germany. Oct. 18, 1934, No. 29876. [Class 146 (ii)] An envelope, flat bag, or the like provided with self-adhesive sealing means e, f, has its closure flap d lying in the same plane as the front of the envelope and not pre-folded, so that there is no tendency for the closure flap to fold itself upon and adhere to the back of the envelope. Preferably, the line of fold g of the closure flap is weakened by scoring or perforating, but the flap is not folded until the missive has been inserted into the envelope. The self-adhesive means may comprise a solution of rubber in benzene, and is preferably applied in the form of a number of narrow strips so positioned that when the flap d is folded over, the strips f on the flap lie partly on the strips e on the back of the envelope and partly over the intervening spaces between the latter strips ; this arrangement prevents air being entrapped. The arrangement of the adhesive on the envelope may be varied ; for example, discontinuous straight or curved strips, which when superimposed intersect or cross one another, may be provided.
