Abstract
Hexamethylenetetramine alkylates or arylates with any acid ion are used as auxiliaries in aqueous baths for the treatment of vegetable, animal and artificial fibrous materials such as textiles. Hexamethylenetetramine decyl iodide or nitrate may be used as wetting agents and the corresponding compounds with higher aliphatic residues, e.g. dodecyl, tetradecyl and hexadecyl residues have emulsifying and cleansing properties. The following substituted derivatives, which are also foaming agents are specified: [(CH2)6N4CH2CH2OC10 H21]Ac ; [(CH2)6N4CH2CHOHCH2OOCC10 H21]Ac ; [(CH2)6N4CH2COOC12H25]Ac ; [(CH2)6N4C6H3 (NO2)2]Ac ; [(CH2)6N4C6 H3(NH2) (NHCOC10 H21)]Ac, in which Ac is an acid ion. They p may be prepared by condensing hexamethylene tetramine with the appropriate component in dry chloroform. Decylchloroethylether may be prepared from glycolchlorhydrin and sodium decylate. Chlorpropyleneglycolmonoundecylate may be prepared from a : \su-dichlorpropylalcohol and sodium undecylate. Undecanoylamino - 2 - amino - 1 - chlorbenzene may be prepared from undecanoylchloride and 2 : 4-diamino-1-chlorbenzene.ALSO:Hexamethylenetetramine alkylates or arylates having any acid ion and preferably containing higher alkyl or aryl residues are stated to have emulsifying properties. Hexamethylenetetramine iodo-dodecylate, tetradecylate and hexadecylate are mentioned and also hexamethylenetetramine derivatives, having the following formul : [(CH2)6N4CH2CH2OC10 H21]Ac; [(CH2)6N4CH2CHOHCH2OOCC10 H21]Ac; [(CH2)6N4CH2COOC12H25]Ac; [(CH2)6N4C6H3 (NO2)2]Ac; [(CH2)6N4C6H3(NH2)) NHCOC10 H21)]Ac in which Ac is an acid ion.
