Abstract
417,745. Cleaning &c. railway ballast. GUILBERT, P. L., 1, Rue Faucon, Rouen, Seine-Inferieure, and LEGRAND, J., 128, Rue de la Republique, St. MandÚ, Seine, both in France. Dec. 14, 1933, No. 35181. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1932. [Class 104 (ii).] A machine for screening or removing railway ballast comprises an endless chain 1, travelling in an inclined quadrilateral frame 6, 7, 9, 13 on pulleys 2-5. The chain carries excavating vanes &c. which loosen the ballast and carry it up to the top of the frame where it passes to a discharge device or to screening apparatus, from which the cleaned ballast returns by a shoot 28 to the track, while the dirt passes to a conveyer 24. The apparatus may be quickly dismantled, and is mounted at the lower end on adjustable supports 16, 17 carried by wheels 14, 15 on an auxiliary track, while the screening end is supported on a frame 30 mounted on wheels 31 and carrying rails 27 on which the screening apparatus may be transversely adjusted. A vertically adjustable plough 33 spreads the cleaned ballast.
