417,405. Trueing grinding - wheels. LINDNER, H., 9, Lubarser Strasse, Wittenau, Berlin. June 6, 1933, No. 16265. [Class 60.] A device for dressing or trueing profiled grinding-wheels consists of two diamonds, or other tools, 1, 2 mounted in a carrier 3 at the lower end of a lever 4 carried by a bolt 5 supported in bearings 6, 7 in a rotary plug 8<a> of a member 8, which is carried by a slide 12. Guided in the member 8 is an arm 9 carrying a tracing roller 11 movable over a former 10 corresponding in outline to the profile of the grinding-wheel S, and on the arm 9 is a rack 91 engaging a pinion 13 rotatable with a cam 14 on a bolt 15 mounted in the plug 8<1>; the cam 14 is engaged by a part 4<1> on the lever 4, a spring 16 holding the lever up to the cam. The distances of the roller 11 and of the diamond point from the axis y, y of the plug 81 and the rise of the cam are so arranged that as the roller 11 is moved over the former, the diamond traces out a path similar in shape to the former. In order that after the diamond 1 has shaped one half of the wheel contour, the other diamond 2 may come into operation to shape the other half, the bolt 5 has an extension 51 having stopsurfaces 17, 18, which, as the plug 81 rotates, encounter stops 19, 20 which move the bolt axially as limited by abutments 21, 22, a spring pressed plunger 24 serving definitely to locate the bolt 5. The slide 12 is adjustable on a guide on the wheel guard 27 by a screw 28 and the carrier 3 is adjustable on the lever 4 by screws 30, 31. The screw 28 may be so connected with a screw for adjusting the grinding- wheel as to adjust the wheel by the amount of the dressing. In a modification, a single diamond of rectangular profile is employed, one corner of the diamond being employed for dressing one half of the profile of the grinding- wheel, and the other corner for dressing the other half. The cam 14 may be rotated by a steel band or rope, &c. instead of by rack gearing.
