[Class 126.] A stove comprises a heating-chamber A containing heating-means b<2>, and an unheated imitation fire in front of it illuminated by means b within the heating-chamber, the imitation fire comprising a semi-transparent imitation fire panel C and a reflector c<1> below it which reflects light from the source b through it. In the stove shown, the heating-chamber has a front wall, the upper part A<4> of which transmits heat and is preferably perforated, and the lower part c<2> transmits light, being preferably formed of glass or mica. An air-heating jacket A<2> is provided over the back and top. The heating and illuminating devices are formed by gas burners heating respectively radiants and illuminating-mantles. A reflector D reflects upwardly through the imitation fire light falling on it. The panel C may comprise a moulded glass slab or slabs, or a pair of plates of fireproof glass, one of which has particles of coloured glass fused to it, whilst the other forms a cover plate, the two being bound at the edges by metal channelstrips. The upper part of the stove may be detachable from the base to allow access to the heating and illuminating devices, or the front of the heating-chamber and the imitation fire panel may be hinged for the same purpose. Similar stoves heated by oil lamps or electric means are described.
