Abstract

412,893. Packing or condensing coils of sliver. SCHNEIDER, H., 66, Zeltweg, Zurich, Switzerland. Feb. 21, 1934, Nos. 5774 and 5775. Convention dates, July 7, 1933 and Sept. 25, 1933. [Class 120 (iii).] Coils or piles of sliver are packed or condensed in rotary cans or on rotary discs by the pressure of a rolling means which rises with the growing pile and rolls the surface smooth as it is formed. The sliver B, Fig. 1, is coiled on a rotating disc D and is pressed thereon by a rotary cone K supported on an inclined shaft A carried by a rod R slidable vertically in guides F<1>, F<2> and counterweighted at G. If desired a cylindrical guide sleeve H, Fig. 3, may be provided to encircle the upper layers. A roller composed of a series of separately rotatable discs may be substituted for the cone K, while hydraulic or electromagnetic supporting and guiding means could be employed.
