Abstract
407,818. Hand wheels. AMERICAN HARD RUBBER CO., 11, Mercer Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Hartung, G. J. ; 559, Marview Avenue, and Siedschlag, K. G. ; 851, Eastland Avenue, both in Akron, Ohio, U.S.A.) Feb. 24, 1933, No. 5702. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1932. [Class 80 (iv).] Solid spokes 2 are secured to the hub by pressing together flanges 6, 7 on the one hub, Fig. 3, or on two concentric hubs, Fig. 19. In the latter case the outer hub 30 is formed with a slotted off-set wall 42. The edges of the slots and the lower edge of the hub are forced by a further pressing operation into grooves 37, 41, in the spokes and inner hub 38 respectively. Between the spokes the flanges abut against one another. The outer ends of the spokes engage the rim 46, Fig. 23, either by forking, as shown, or by hooking the flattened end over the rim. The ends of the rim may be joined together by the forked spoke being rolled or forced into the metal of the rim, Fig. 24.
