[Class 122 (i).] Transverse webs 9 connecting the gudgeon pin bosses to the head extend partly along the peripheral wall of the skirt at 9<1> and are spaced therefrom adjacent to the split 6. The webs may be spaced also from the opposite thrust face 1<1>, Fig. 7, which may be reinforced by rib 10 either normal or inclined to the generating lines of the skirt. The webs 9 may be cut away at 9<11> above the bosses to merge into extensions 71 of transverse strengthening webs 7.
