402,838. Firelighters. YOUNG, W. G., 56, Cambridge Road, Seven Kings, Essex, TRUSSELL, D. W., 53, Haymarket, London, and HOWARD, G. J. H., 12, The Drive, Harold Wood, Essex. June 11, 1932, No. 16594. [Class 50.] Firelighters are moulded into arched or domed form having slots or perforations from a mixture of dried sawdust, paraffin scale and saltpetre. A pigment such as venetian red, chlorate of potash, and naphthalene, which may be applied to the ends e by dipping the formed lighter, may be included. The plastic mass is fed from a mixer f and measurer g to an endless belt h moving between a former plate m and a press n having depending pins registering with sockets in the plate for forming openings d in the crown of the lighters. Alternatively the material on a conveyer is compressed by a roller and after being pierced is moulded on a corrugated former, two rollers inclined to the blank effecting the necessary arching.
