Abstract

398,916. Tools and tool-holders. O.K. TOOL CO., Inc., 233, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. March 30, 1932, No. 9146. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1931. [Class 83 (iii).] A lathe &c. tool comprises a cutter 2 having a rear portion 2a which is forced by a clamp 3 against a seat 1a and an abutment 1b in the holder 1. The walls 1a, 1b of the holder and 2d, 2e of the cutter are inclined as shown in order that the cutting thrust may force the cutter into the angle x and relieve the clamp from stress. The clamp has an extension 3a entering a recess 1d in the holder and receiving the shouldered clamping screw 4. A keyway 1c in the seat 1a engages a rib 2c on the cutter to prevent lateral movement. In a modified form of clamping means, an extension of the holder 1 overlies the portion 2a of the cutter and carries a clamping screw which engages the portion 2a directly.
