Abstract

397,701. Connecting-rods. MASCHINENBAU AKT.-GES. VORM. EHRHARDT & SEHMER, Saarbrucken, Germany. Oct. 28, 1932, No. 30307. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1931. [Class 122 (i).] In connecting-rod big ends, comparison bars e are introduced into the bores of the bolts to determine the variation of the lengths of the bolts due to tension. The bars e are screwed to the tops of the bolts b. The angular movement necessary to tighten the nut c is determined by graduations g. A depth gauge is used to determine the distance between the ends of the bars e and the heads h. A decrease in the twist to effect the same bolt elongation indicates that the bolt has been damaged.
