Abstract

396,721. Cops and like supports for yarn &c. UNIVERSAL WINDING CO., 95, South Street, Boston, U.S.A. Feb. 8, 1932, No. 3735. Convention date, March 11, 1931. [Class 120 (iii).] A cop or other support for yarn &c. having means for holding an end portion of the yarn is formed witl a finger-like depression adapted to permit inser tion of a finger to grasp the yarn end for removal from the support. A support 2 formed with spaced flutings 5 bounded by serrations 6 has at its base a groove 7 for the reception of a few turns of yarn wound over and end y<2> thereof after the end has been drawn through a slit 8 cut in the base of the support. The slit lies outside a counter bore 4, which constitutes an enlargement of the bore 3 of the support, but cuts across a deeper finger notch 10 extending outwards from the counter bore 4, and adapted to allow the end of the yarn y to be grasped and removed from the support for joining to another package thereof.
