Abstract
396,608. Ball mills. WIESNER, F. and MALIK, V., 55, Masarykova, Chrudim, Czecho-Slovakia. Dec. 22, 1932, No. 36343. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1931. [Class 59.] In a ball mill the first chamber 2 is used for drying the material fed in with hot gas through an inlet 5. The chamber 2 is divided into annular compartments by a central pipe 6 and concentric drums 9, 10, the drum 9 being closed at the rear end around the pipe 6. The passages between the drums 9, 10 and 1 are divided by longitudinal partitions, and longitudinal ribs also project into these passages. Material and hot gas from the pipe 5 enters an annular chamber 4 and is propelled by blades 7 into the annular passage between the pipe 6 and drum 10 and after passing through this passage is returned to the front end of the mill through the passage between drums 10, 9. The material then enters the passage between the drum 9 and shell 1 and falls into a chamber formed by the end of the drum 9 and a perforated partition 12 in which it is cascaded by vanes 15 and blown into a grinding chamber 3 by hot air or gas through the valve-controlled pipe 6. This hot air or gas conveys the material ground in the chamber 3 into a classifier 14, the rejected material being conveyed back to the grinding chamber by a screw 16.
