Abstract
466,035. Ball or tube mills. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-. Nov. 20, 1935, No. 32205. [Class 59] [Also in Group XIII] In a ball mill, part of the air or gas used for drying the material is discharged without coming into contact with the material during or after grinding. As shown, a drying compartment 2 is formed in the drum 1 and comprises a concentric row of fixed or rotary cylinders 7. Hot air from a fan and material from the inlet 6 pass through the cylinders 7, the material falling into the lifting compartment 9 for conveyance through the grinding compartments of the mill together with part of the hot air, whilst the remaining part of the hot air is withdrawn by a fan out of the drying chamber through the outlet 8 which may be arranged at either end of the mill. The material and hot air may be passed in the reverse direction. The mill may be divided into two parts connected by a trunnion bearing.
