Abstract

388,514. Pressure gauges. ARCHBALD, R. H., Grey House, Burgh Heath, Surrey.-(Avigdor, R. ; 13, Leibnizstrasse, Charlottenburg, Berlin.) Dec. 14, 1931, No. 34651. [Class 106 (ii).] Comprises two dished plates of sheet metal with the diaphragm secured between them like a drum head, a mounting for the movement provided on the front plate, and the backplate formed with a screwed nipple so that the instrument is inserted as a unit into the usual casing to which it is attached solely by the nipple. The diaphragm proper 5 is soldered over the edge of a back-plate 6, the expansion limiting plate 7 being soldered over this. Attached to the plate 7 are pillars 8 supporting a plate 9 carrying the movement 11 of the usual quadrant and pinion type. The back-plate 6 is secured at the centre to a tube 27 screwed on the outside and into the inner end of which is screwed a bored plug 19. The bore 20 does not extend quite through the plug, but communicates with the diaphragm chamber by lateral ducts 22. The end of the plug bears against the diaphragm. The movement of the diaphragm is transmitted by a push rod 14 attached to the diaphragm and passing through a central hole in the plate 7. The device forms a unit which is inserted in the casing 23 the stem 27 passing through a hole in the base 24 to which it is secured by a nut 25. The screw plug 19 may be turned by a screwdriver passed through the bore of the tube 27 for zero-adjusting purposes. The device before service is submitted to a pressure of about five times the normal pressure to remove manufacturing sets.
