Abstract
387,898. Mechanical switches without quick action. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. June 9, 1932, No. 16264. Convention date, Sept. 7, 1931. [Class 38 (v).] In an engine starter comprising an inertia mass b which is set in rotation by an electric motor a, a lever p switches on the motor a by means of a sliding insulating member t carrying a contact member s adapted to engage contacts u, v in the motor circuit. The contact u is carried by a spring-controlled yoke x pivoted at w and having 'its free end 'curved for engagement by the tapering ends of the 'sliding member t. On the movement of the lever p to the right, to close the clutch e, g and to engage a pinion n with an engine member o, the movement of the yoke x moves the contact u out of the path of the contact s and the motor a is not switched on. The lever p is then moved sufficiently to the left to open the clutch and to close the switch contacts s, u, v; the motor a sets the mass b in rotation, and on again closing the clutch the momentum of the mass b is transmitted to the engine through the clutch, the free-wheel, and the pinion n.
