Abstract
386,611. Securing bearing-rings to shafts. AKTIEBOLAGET NOMY, 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm. Oct. 27, 1932, No. 30149. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1931. [Class 80 (ii).] A bearing having one of the bearing elements held tight by clamping action to the shaft has one or both of the elements which are relatively displaceable during clamping provided with indicating marks adapted to form a measure of the size of the applied clamping- force. As shown for a bearing in which the inner sleeve 3 is clamped on a shaft by a split coned ring 5, the latter has a scale 8 preferably at the large end. In mounting the bearing in position, the nut 6 is screwed up until the sleeve 5 just begins to grip the shaft. The indicating marks 8 are then noted and a further tightening of the nut is then made so as to move the sleeve 5 relatively to the element 3 for a definite number of scale graduations, preferably one. The graduations may be made of the nut 6, or on the lateral edge of the outer ring 2, or on the shaft.
