384,669. Clamps. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., Hebburn-on-Tyne, BRAMWELL, E. E., 27, Roxburgh Terrace, Whitley Bay, Northumberland, and SLORICK, W. A., 20, Barrow Street, Hebburn-on-Tyne. June 9, 1931, No. 16745. [Class 44.] A clamping element for use in clamping rods and tubes together comprises an arcuate portion A or T and projecting end lugs B and C, or U and V, respectively, the lug B or U at one end having its inner face lying substantially in a radial plane of the rod or tube clamped, while the lug C or V at the other end lies parallel to a radial plane but at a distance equal to the thickness of the lug from it. The element may have the lugs disposed at 180‹ from each other, as shown in Fig. 1, or at 90‹ from each other, as shown in Fig. 11, and the two types may be used separately or in combination, the clamping elements being drawn together by bolts to effect clamping. Rods and tubes may be clamped in various ways by the use of these elements, and Figs. 7 and 8 show tubes K and L clamped to a tube M at right-angles and on opposite sides and another tube N clamped separately at an intermediate position all the tubes being coplanar, the lugs, at the ends of the clamping elements being disposed as shown so as to be drawn together by single clamping bolts such as O. For joining tubular members whose axes are not coplanar, the clamping elements are disposed as shown in Fig. 13, in which the elements A and T are shown in combination to join tubes X, Y, W.
