Abstract

384,169. Pipe joints. SPANG, CHALFANT, & CO., Inc., 717, Liberty Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A. April 16, 1932, No. 10967. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1931. [Class 99 (i).] In a screwed pipe joint the screw-thread is of maximum depth at a zone 18 intermediate of its length. The end of one pipe abuts against a shoulder 25 on the other pipe and the pipes have plain, coacting, slightly tapered surfaces 14, 15 at the ends of the threads. A space 21 is left at the base of the threads. In a modification the sides of the thread are of different inclination, and the threads are in contact at the base and at the steeper sides. Each pipe may have two threaded portions separated by plain contacting portions.
