Abstract
383,966. Remote control of motors. JONES, A. E.. 21, Kelso Road, Leeds. June 1, 1931, No. 15924. [Class 38 (iii).] A motor H operates an interrupter in circuit with police &c. lamp signals and is started or stopped by impulses sent over a control circuit B, an indication being given at the control station that the motor has started or stopped. Momentary depression of key A sends an alternating current through the circuit B causing actuation of a relay P and of a ratchet device F, thereby causing the motor H to start. As the motor accelerates, a centrifugal device driven thereby sequentially opens contacts a, b, closes b, d, and opens c, d. When contacts a, bare closed a relay N is energized over the circuit B in series with an indicating relay at the control station, and the relay N maintains its circuit independently of the opening of the contacts c, d until a key AA is momentarily opened. A subsequent depression of the key A causes a further operation of the ratchet device F and stopping of the motor. The contacts a .. d operate in the reverse order. When contacts c, d close relay N and the indicating relay are energized, and when contacts a, b close, relay N is short-circuited so that its armature falls away and opens circuit B, thus the indication is cancelled without it being necessary to depress the key AA. The centrifugal device may also operate contacts in circuit with the interrupter. The circuit B is available for telephonic purposes when the motor is not being controlled.
