Abstract
382,810. Voltage regulation in metal vapour rectifier systems. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võsteras, Sweden. Jan. 12, 1932, No. 914. Convention date, Jan. 12, 1931. [Class 38 (ii).] In an arrangement comprising a tapped transformer T and metal vapour rectifier L for supplying rectified current at a variable voltage to a motor M or other load in which voltage change is effected by connecting a second pair of anodes to the pair of taps adjacent to the taps in use, current is interrupted at the first pair of anodes by imparting to grids associated therewith a negative potential derived from a battery B through a switch S. Voltage values intermediate those of adjacent taps are made available by the use of equalizing transformers E in the anode leads. Modifications are described, (1) for use on polyphase systems, (2) for providing additional voltage steps by using more than two sets of anodes for each phase, and (3) using sliding contact switches in place of the contactors indicated, in the Figure.
